Good games, explained clearly

The aim is simple: help you decide what you feel like playing. Each guide explains the idea behind a game, who might enjoy it and what to check before buying. You can read the shortlist, explore a practical field note or use the mood-based finder.

What makes this a “top 5”?

This is a curated set of five, selected for variety across familiar play styles: a routine to return to, space to create, a small world to explore, a continuing story and a shared challenge. The numbered order is a reading order. It is not a measurement of quality, sales or popularity, and it does not claim to represent every Canadian player's preferences.

How the guides are put together

Game features and platform information are checked against official developer or publisher pages. Each game guide identifies those sources and a check date. Recommendations about mood and fit are editorial judgements. These pages do not claim first-hand testing, review scores, awards or survey results.

“New games to try” describes discovery: a game can be new to your shortlist without being newly released. This selection includes established titles.
